As Chief Information Officer of The Dow Corning Corporation since 2001, Abbe Mulders has led the company into a new era of leveraging information technology to deliver value to customers. Under her leadership, the Advanced Technologies and Ventures Business implemented the business KPI dashboard using SAP and Lighthammer technologies a development that has driven behavior change within Dow Corning and garnered strong interest from other manufacturing leaders. Ms. Mulder�s focus on converting IT investment into direct customer value has led to global recognition of Dow Corning by SAP America and SAP AG for creating total lifetime customer value.
Ms. Mulders also oversaw the implementation of Xiameter�, Dow Corning�s web-based business model, which simplifies the buying process and eliminates the added cost of sales and technical support for large volume customers. In addition, she directed the plan for multi-generational order fulfillment activities and synchronized it with plans for the restructuring of the Dow Corning web site, ensuring that transacting business on www.dowcorning.com will consistently build and maintain the company�s brand promises to customers globally.
In 1979, Ms. Mulders joined Dow Corning as a programmer/analyst. Between 1979 and 1995, Ms. Mulders worked in progressively challenging roles from Team Leader to Global Project Manager. In 1996, she was named manager of Application Delivery and Support, where she managed a global team of Application Development professionals. Ms. Mulders became the Director of BPIT Consulting Services in 1999, which was an internal IT consulting organization startup group. She was named to the CIO position in January 2001. Ms. Mulders has been interviewed frequently by Chemical Week and CIO magazines, and was named Chemical Week�s 2004 CIO of the Year.
A board member of CIDX (Chemical Industry Data Exchange), and the Information Management Forum, Ms. Mulders is also Treasurer of Bay Futures, Inc., an economic development board for Bay County, Michigan.
