Mr. Smith is responsible for the worldwide legal operations of the Company and its subsidiaries, and provides legal advice and counsel to senior management of the Company. His specific duties include the day to day management of the global legal affairs of the Company including the review and negotiation of agreements with the Company's customers, partners, and vendors.
Mr. Smith is a former senior associate in the Business Law Department of the law firm of Adorno & Yoss, where he led the Electronic Commerce & Technology law practice for the Miami office, as well as focused on domestic and international corporate transactions, venture capital, and corporate securities. Prior to his work at Adorno & Yoss, Mr. Smith worked in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for the review of the legal issues surrounding the Internet aspects of the proposed Sprint/Worldcom merger. Mr. Smith gained his federal government experience as an intern in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Department of State (U.S. Embassy/Santiago, Chile), Office of the Deputy Attorney General, and U.S. House of Representatives International Relations Committee. Mr. Smith has also lectured on conducting international legal research on the Internet at the University of Miami School of Law, and was a research assistant to University of Miami Law Professor A. Michael Froomkin focusing on cutting edge Internet Law issues.
Mr. Smith received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University. Mr. Smith is a member of the bar of the State of Florida and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. |
