Throughout his more than 30-year career in government, Vice Admiral Al Burkhalter has held several high level positions in the research and production programs for the Department of Defense, including Chief of Naval Intelligence, Defense Intelligence Agency Chief of Staff, and Director, Intelligence Community Staff for the CIA. Since his retirement, he has chaired panels for the Department of Defense, Department of Energy and led a government task force that addressed counterterrorism and counter narcotics for President George H.W. Bush. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and has been decorated by King Olaf of Norway. Admiral Burkhalter is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. degree in engineering. |
