Alan J. Kaplan is the Founder and President of Kaplan & Associates, Inc. (K&A), a retained executive search firm headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. K&A partners with Boards, investors and CEOs to help growing companies succeed by providing advice on the identification of new CEOs, Directors and senior operating executives. Alan entered the executive search industry in 1987. Prior to founding K&A over a decade ago, he worked for the largest retained executive search firm based in Philadelphia. During his eighteen-year search career, Alan has conducted searches for senior executives in nearly every industry sector, including searches for Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Sales/Marketing Officers, Chief Technology Officers and Board Members.
Alan began his career in corporate banking, initially with First Pennsylvania Bank (now Wachovia) and then Meritor/PSFS (now Citizens Bank). His banking experience focused on Leveraged Buyouts and Acquisition Finance. He is a graduate of First Pennsylvania Bank's Management Training Program.
Alan holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Penn State University, and an MBA in Finance from Temple University. He is the host of the KYW Career Report, a weekly business commentary on leadership and career management, and has been a guest columnist for the Philadelphia Business Journal, Capital Growth Interactive, Smart Business Now, Philadelphia Enterpriser Magazine, PA Banker, NJ Banker and PACB Transactions, as well as a frequent speaker to corporations, industry groups and academic institutions. Alan was recently elected to the Corporate Executive Board of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, as well as to the Advisory Board of Directors of Penn Liberty Bank. Alan has served as Board President of the Entrepreneurs' Forum of Greater Philadelphia, and continues to sit on their Board of Directors. He also is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Corporate Growth, and served as a long time Board Member of the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group and the Mid-Atlantic Venture Conference. Alan is an active member of the National Association of Corporate Directors as well. Alan has received the Philadelphia Business Journal's prestigious "40 Under 40" recognition. He also serves on the Board of Governors of The Pyramid Club in Philadelphia. |
