Alan Burks was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Haggar Clothing Co., a leading marketer of men's and women's apparel from 1993 until November of 2005 when he resigned after the company went private. Alan had global responsibility for the company's marketing, merchandising, sales, licensing and retail activities for menswear. This included Haggar brand, licensed brands of Claiborne and Kenneth Cole, the Horizon Group private label division, and Haggar retail stores. He also co-managed the Haggar women's brand with the company's Jerell division. Prior to joining Haggar, Burks was Group Account Director for DDB/Tracy-Locke, the advertising agency for Haggar for over fifty years. Joining Tracy-Locke in 1987, Burks handled several accounts including Frito-Lay, The Ben Hogan Company, Dial Corp., and Haggar. In addition to his managerial experience at DDB, he oversaw several accounts at Ogilvy & Mather and Burton-Campbel/EPB in Atlanta. Burks began his management career with Price-McNabb in North Carolina. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Alan is active in industry and community affairs, serving on committees of the American Apparel and Footwear Association, the United Way of Dallas, University of Georgia Alumni Association, and the Planning and Development Committee in his hometown of Celina, Texas. He is also a Visiting Professor with the Advertising Education Federation. He has been recognized as one of the "Power 100" most influential people in men's wear by DNR, the leading industry magazine. |
