Mr. Van Praag has practiced in the fields of admiralty and international and domestic commercial law for more than 35 years, representing clients before all manner of courts and tribunals. His practice has taken him to over 100 countries. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Maritime Law Association of the United States (MLA); Chairman, MLA Sub-Committee serving as Liaison to the U.S. Department of State Concerning the Hague Convention for the International Enforcement of Money Judgments; Chairman, MLA Sub-Committee on Bankruptcy; Vice-Chairman (East Coast), MLA Practice and Procedure Committee; and member, MLA Sub-Committee liaison with the Comite Maritime Internationale. He is a member on the New York County Lawyers Association, International Chamber of Commerce and Comite Maritime Internationale. He has authored articles and lectured on admiralty law and private international law in domestic and international venues, and has been an arbitrator in both AAA and SMA proceedings.
