Alex Aber counsels public and private companies on a broad range of matters including mergers and acquisitions, financings, technology licensing, joint ventures and other strategic partnerships and general legal matters. His advice to buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions includes the structuring of transactions, including cross-border transactions, and the negotiation and drafting of purchase agreements.
A particular client focus for Alex is on advising software, biotech and other emerging, technology-centric companies. He represents such clients, as well as companies that invest in and lend to them, in a wide array of venture capital and other equity transactions, credit facilities and corporate restructurings. In addition to this finance work, Alex negotiates and drafts IP-related agreements focused on software and patent licensing, technology development, international distribution, and outsourcing.
Alex's technology counsel reflects strong practical experience. Before entering law school he worked as a technology research associate for Forrester Research, specializing in the areas of consumer e-commerce and entertainment.

Conducted legal due diligence and provided antitrust advice regarding the cross-border acquisition of an aviation services company based outside the U.S.
Negotiated the cross-border acquisition of a stock photography business, which included drafting the merger agreement and a separation agreement for the target's founder
Drafted an exclusive distribution agreement and convertible debt financing documents for a PIPE transaction to facilitate a medical diagnostics manufacturer's investment in one of its distribution partners
Drafted asset purchase, development and manufacturing agreements that enabled the client to acquire medical device technology and work with the seller after closing to manufacture and develop new products
Represented a venture-backed business analytics software company in its sale to a public company in June 2007 for $195 million
