Dr. Bruce leads the Business Development, Program Management and Sales & Marketing activities at Inplane. Dr. Bruce is also responsible for our Materials R&D efforts.
Dr. Bruce is a recognized expert in glass science and technology, specializing in new materials for photonic devices. He has more than 25 years experience in the field, 16 of which were at AT&T Bell Laboratories, later Lucent Technologies. His work on stability enhancement of Lithium Niobate Waveguide Modulators was a key factor in Lucent/Agere's domination of the market in 1999-2001 and resulted in more than $400M in revenue. He has been an innovator in the development of new materials and fabrication processes for bulk optics, specialty fibers and PLC devices. In the PLC domain he has developed "best in class" glasses for EDWA and a wide range of materials applicable to "multi-delta" platforms.
Dr. Bruce received a B.Sc. with first class honours, and a Ph.D in Chemistry, from Aberdeen University, Scotland. He is a fellow of the American Ceramic Society and a past-Chair of its Glass and Optical Materials Division. He has published more than 75 technical papers and authored 11 patents. |
