Dr. Averill is a graduate of the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (Piscataway, NJ) and completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Averill completed acupuncture training at the University of California at Los Angeles and passed the National Acupuncture Proficiency Exam for physicians.
A board certified physiatrist, as well, Dr. Averill has focused on individuals with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and other neurological disorders since joining Kessler. Her primary interests include the medical management of spasticity, pain, behavior and cognition in these patients.
She is actively involved in educating medical students and residents and has lectured extensively on traumatic brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, and acupuncture. Dr. Averill participates in several professional organizations and medical societies and has co-authored many abstracts and articles for national publication. |
