Dr. Langer is the inventor of the HEARTLink System. He was formerly the chief engineer at Medrad/Intec, Inc., where he pioneered the development of the automatic implantable defibrillator (AICD). This device is currently generating revenues of over $1 billion annually since being sold to Eli Lilly CPI (now Guidant Systems/CPI) for approximately $100 million. Dr. Langer has recently been honored for his pioneering work in this field by his induction into the National Inventors "Hall of Fame". |
