Andrew A. August co-founded the firm in 1990 (formerly Bayer & August LLP). For 20 years, Mr. August has focused his practice on complex business and real estate litigation, and trial and appellate practice in California state and federal court, as well as arbitration tribunals.
Experience
Mr. August has litigated and taken to trial and arbitration a wide variety of commercial and real estate related disputes. His real estate litigation practice has included representations of municipalities, developers, property owners, landlords, tenants, contractors and design professionals. Substantive matters have included environmental, land use, commercial landlord-tenant, partnership disputes, real property tax assessment appeals and construction defect litigation (including class actions).
Mr. August�s commercial litigation practice has included class actions, contract disputes, partnership dissolutions, trade secret litigation, wrongful termination and insurance coverage on behalf of policyholders. Over the past 10 years, he has represented numerous plaintiffs and defendants in cases brought under California�s Unfair Competition and False Advertising Laws (California Business and Professions Code sections 17200 et seq. and 17500 et seq.).
Mr. August has been lead counsel in numerous jury trials and court trials over his 20 year career. Mr. August�s trial skills were recently recognized by the State Bar of California Litigation Section: He was invited to give plaintiff�s opening statement in the 2003 annual two day State Bar Trial Symposium "Champions of the Courtroom The Masters in Action." Mr. August also has substantial appellate experience and has been counsel of record in more than 35 appellate matters (both writs and appeals) in federal or state court.

Education
Mr. August graduated from the University of Colorado in 1980 and received his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1983. He clerked for Judges Stuart R. Pollak and Roy L. Wonder of the San Francisco Superior Court, when each presided in the law and motion department.
Admissions
Mr. August is admitted to practice before all of the U.S. District Courts in California as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has substantial trial and appellate experience and has arbitrated and mediated numerous other matters.
