Andrew Stone is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Chicago office. He is a member of the Private Client Department.
Prior to joining the Firm, Andrew worked for an international law firm where he counseled individuals, families, fiduciaries and family offices on all aspects of estate planning and administration. He also created and implemented strategies to minimize income, gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer taxes for the preservation, transfer and management of wealth through trusts and family investment entities. Andrew's practice includes significant experience with closely-held businesses, tax planning for non-U.S. families with U.S. connections, and the donation of conservation easements.
Andrew is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council, Chicago Bar Association (Trust Law Committee), and the Young Professional Advisory Committee of the Chicago Community Trust. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the John C. Proctor Endowment, Peoria, Illinois and on the Metro Board of Metropolitan Family Services.
While in law school, Andrew was a John M. Olin Scholar in Law and Economics and was an articles editor for the Cornell Journal of Law & Public Policy. Prior to law school, he studied history at the Westf�lische Wilhelms-Universit�t, M�nster, Germany, as a recipient of a German Academic Exchange Service Scholarship.
Andrew speaks regularly on tax and estate planning topics and is a co-author of "Role of the Trustee" (Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education-Trust Administration Handbook). He is admitted to practice in Illinois.
