Andrew J. Mitchell, FACHE, assumed the position of Peconic Bay Medical Center CEO in May, 2001. Since then he has led an effort to bring the newest healthcare technology to the hospital. He has expanded existing services through improvement of facilities, including a $1 million renovation of the angiography suite, a renovation and expansion of the endoscopy suite and a new, off-site 4,500 sq. ft. physical therapy center.
New programs that have been introduced at the Hospital under his leadership include lithotripsy, bariatric surgery and expanded cardiac care and gastroenterology. He also instituted a residency program in family practice with SUNY Stony Brook.
Before assuming his post at Peconic Bay Medical Center, Mr. Mitchell served as Executive Director of North Shore University Hospital at Forest Hills. Mr. Mitchell, who is a graduate of Yale University (New Haven, CT) with a MPH in Health Services Administration and Union College (Schenectady, NY) with a B.A. in Sociology, is also an adjunct Professor for the School of Management and Technology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a Trustee of Dowling College. |
