Andrew M. Coats serves as of counsel with the Firm. He currently resides as the Dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Law and as Director of the Law Center. Mr. Coats has extensive experience in litigation and trial, product liability, and white collar crime laws. A former president of Crowe & Dunlevy, Mr. Coats has also served as Mayor of Oklahoma City and District Attorney for Oklahoma County. Over the course of his four decades of practice, Mr. Coats has received many honors, including being named the Outstanding Lawyer in Oklahoma in 1977. He is a fellow at the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for business litigation. Mr. Coats has served as president for both the Oklahoma County and Oklahoma Bar Associations, and is the Charter Oklahoma President for the American Board of Trial Advocates. Additionally, he is an Oklahoma Fellow of the American Bar Association and a trustee to the U.S. Supreme Court Historical Society. In addition to prosecuting important capital cases such as the Sirloin Stockade Murders, Mr. Coats� is perhaps best known for his U.S. Supreme Court case in which he successfully argued for the Universities of Oklahoma and Georgia in their case against the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), breaking the organization�s monopoly of college football television. Mr. Coats received both his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Oklahoma. He was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1963. |
