Dr. Cromarty is a seasoned executive and industry strategist with over 25 years of computing and broadband industry experience. He has served as CTO or CIO of numerous companies including SoftNet Systems (NASDAQ: SOFN), a two billion dollar broadband services company; ISP Channel, the nation's third-largest cable-over-Internet broadband service provider, with operations in 100 cities; Intellicom (the former Xerox Skyway), the first two-way broadband VSAT satellite service provider; and Aerzone, a $100MM wireless broadband hotspot service joint venture between the world's largest airlines, CMGI, SoftNet, and Compaq. He also has served on several corporate boards, including as Chairman of Lucent-spinout Freewire Networks, an in-venue wireless broadband firm providing secure value-added entertainment and e-commerce services. Previously, Dr. Cromarty spent over a decade managing software development and service in Silicon Valley startups and a half-decade at Digital Equipment Corporation's renowned Western Research Laboratory (DECWRL) and Network Systems Laboratory (NSL), where he conducted leading research on broadband multimedia content delivery and achieved such historic firsts as the first Internet delivery of one million video streams to the public for a single event, the first public Internet and wireless demonstrations of distributed multiplayer Java-based games, and the first live Internet distribution of multimedia digital entertainment content from a film festival. He holds five degrees, including a doctorate in Computer and Information Science. |
