Andy Weidl, along with the team's other West area scout Daniel Jeremiah, covers the West Coast schools for the Ravens. Andy evaluates players from the Pac-10, Mountain West and Sunbelt conferences, but his primary focus is on assessing talent from schools in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah.
Prior to joining the Ravens in 2005, Weidl spent 5 years with the New Orleans Saints, his 1st 3 as the team's National Combine Scout (2000-02) and the last 2 as Northeast area scout, covering mainly Big East and ACC schools. Prior to joining the Saints, Andy spent 2 years as a player personnel assistant for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1998-99). While there, he assisted in evaluating both college and professional players. Before joining the Steelers, Weidl worked as a sports reporter covering high school sports for CN8 in Philadelphia (1997). Weidl also served as a CN8 analyst for HS football games.
Weidl was a 4-year starter as an offensive lineman at Villanova, while earning his degree in communications (1996) and as a graduate student. Andy received his master's in human organizational science in 1997. He was awarded the Thomas J. Burke Award "for most consistent performance and dedication" at Villanova.
The Pittsburgh native attended Mt. Lebanon (Pittsburgh, PA) HS and currently resides in Phoenix, AZ. |
