Anthony A. Bongiorno is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Boston office. As a member of the Firm's Trial Department, he focuses his practice on a wide variety of commercial matters.
Tony has extensive trial experience in a variety of commercial matters. He has successfully defended a leading sports and entertainment insurance company in a one-week trial involving claims for misappropriation of trade secrets and employee raiding. He has also successfully defended a public utility in a four-week trial involving the failed development of a cogeneration project in Massachusetts. Additionally, he has successfully tried cases involving the development and license of computer software and has represented publicly held companies in cases involving complex issues under stock option plans, including issues of exercise, vesting and valuation.
Further, Tony is currently representing a multinational petroleum company in a mass tort, product liability multidistrict litigation. He also has extensive experience in the employment area, including successfully seeking to enforce nondisclosure and non-competition agreements and successfully defending a client in a trial involving an issue of first impression under Section 510 of ERISA. He also advises employers on a regular basis on a wide variety of employment matters.
Tony is co-author of several articles, including "E-Mail-The Hottest Topic in Discovery Disputes" published in The National Law Journal, November 3, 1997, and "Covenants Not to Compete-Worth More Than the Paper They are Written On?" published in The National Law Journal, October 28, 1996.
Tony is admitted to the American Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association.
