Merging his extensive experience in management with a solid background in corporate law, Arlen Gelbard plays a dual role at E*TRADE FINANCIAL, managing corporate administrative functions - with a focus on enterprise risk, compliance and internal audit - as well as overseeing the Company's legal affairs. Mr. Gelbard also serves as President of E*TRADE Bank, and is an integral member of the team charged with forwarding the Company's mission to offer premium-priced cash management and lending solutions to retail customers.
As part of E*TRADE FINANCIAL's commitment to improving neighborhoods and increasing financial literacy in the nation's underserved low-and moderate-income communities, Mr. Gelbard also plays an active role in leading the Company's community investment initiatives. He serves as a national board member of Operation HOPE, leveraging his professional relationships to encourage other corporate leaders to become involved and make a difference in their communities.
Prior to joining the Company in 2000, Mr. Gelbard held the position of general counsel of Telebank and Telebanc Financial Corporation. He was also a partner of the law firm Hofheimer Gartlir & Gross, LLP, in New York City, where he spent 16 years specializing in commercial and corporate law, transactional real estate, lending, foreclosures and workouts. Mr. Gelbard is a Director of the Greater Washington Board of Trade. He holds a JD and an MBA from Boston University, and a BA in politics from Brandeis University. |
