Arthur Schaier, a partner and head of the Intellectual Property Group at Carmody & Torrance, practices in the area of patents, trademarks and copyright. Arthur�s experience includes providing IP, business and litigation services to clients, and his work in industry and educational background in electrical and computer engineering enables him to quickly understand both a client�s business and IP needs. Arthur handles IP matters for clients that range from start-up businesses to multinational corporations, which include preparing and securing U.S. and foreign patents and trademarks, drafting patent and trademark license agreements, software license agreements and IP litigation settlement agreements. On the litigation side, Arthur assists trial attorneys in all aspects of patent, copyright and trademark law, from pretrial discovery and preparation through all post-trial activities. His IP experience spans a wide variety of fields, such as telecommunications, vehicle navigation systems, video (MPEG) encoders, medical devices, food preparation devices, brake systems for automobiles, computer software, lighting, semiconductor and liquid crystal display technologies, analog, digital and microprocessor-based systems, and precision mechanical assemblies such as printers, watches and circuit breakers.
