Arthur Seidel is of counsel to the firm. He founded the intellectual property law firm of Seidel, Gonda, Lavorgna & Monaco, P.C., which combined its practice with Drinker Biddle in March 2001.
Arthur has been involved in hundreds of intellectual property litigations and Patent and Trademark Office proceedings. His practice includes all phases of intellectual property including patents, trademarks, copyrights, unfair competition, licensing, Internet disputes, trade secrets and the rights of publicity and of privacy. He has represented many Fortune 500 companies in major matters.
In General. Arthur was admitted to practice before the Patent and Trademark Office in 1947 and has been actively engaged in intellectual property law ever since. He finished the course work for a Ph.D. in chemistry. During World War II he did research on the atom bomb at Columbia University and then at Oak Ridge.
Arthur is a member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations, American Patent Law Association, Philadelphia Intellectual Property Association, and the International Trademark Law Association. He was elected to the American Law Institute, and the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, which is responsible for continuing legal education in Pennsylvania.
Arthur was the sole patent attorney in private practice to be appointed to the prestigious Advisory Committee of the American Law Institute which rewrote the Restatement of the Law of Unfair Competition. For 15 years he taught a two-semester course on patent law at Temple University Law School. For 15 years, he chaired the annual American Law Institute - American Bar Association Seminar on Trademarks, Copyrights and Unfair Competition. He has chaired or participated in numerous seminars and lectures for many national, state, and local bar associations.
Arthur was the senior author of a two-volume treatise on trademark practice published by Matthew Bender in 1963. He has been the senior author of the American Law Institute American Bar Association books on Patent Law Practice (now in its sixth edition), Trademarks and Copyrights (going into its seventh edition), and Trade Secrets and Employment Agreements (third edition). |
