Austin S. Faberman is counsel in the firm�s Real Estate Practice Group. He maintains a diverse transactional practice, representing public and private companies in the acquisition, sale, leasing and financing of a variety of real estate projects.
Austin has extensive leasing experience, including retail, office and industrial leasing, for both tenants and landlords. Much of his leasing experience has been dedicated to national retail tenants in regional malls, mixed-use and life style centers, and urban streetscape locations. He recently successfully negotiated a lease for a client�s new flagship store in Rockefeller Center. He has had the opportunity to represent a number of corporations in the leasing of their world headquarters, including for a national apparel retailer and a world-renowned semiconductor assembly equipment manufacturer. Austin has also represented the firm in its recent office expansions nationally.
Austin has worked closely with Jetro Cash and Carry, a national chain of wholesale restaurant supply stores, counseling them in the leasing and purchasing of over one-third of their warehouse locations across the country. In addition to leasing and acquisition matters, he has had the opportunity to work with this company in their leasing and subleasing of excess space, mortgage financings and tax incentive transactions with numerous industrial development agencies. He assisted them in the relocation of one of their warehouses, through a friendly condemnation action, when the Philadelphia Phillies identified their property as the prime location for a new stadium.
In addition to Austin�s leasing experience, he also represents regional and national lending institutions and investment funds in the origination, restructuring and modification of mortgage loans for acquisition, construction and refinance of real estate; and corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, REITs and individuals in the purchase and sale of real estate, including multifamily apartments, office buildings, retail shopping centers and industrial warehouse properties.
In General. Austin graduated from Bucknell University with a bachelor's degree in business administration, and received his law degree summa cum laude from St. John�s University School of Law, where he was a member of the editorial staff of the law review. He currently serves as a member of the Philadelphia Board of the Anti-Defamation League. Prior to joining Drinker Biddle, Austin was an associate at Thacher Proffitt & Wood in New York. |
