Dr. Kahn focuses her research interests on molecular mechanisms of insulin and leptin action, including mechanisms of insulin resistance and diabetes pathogenesis, and molecular pathogenesis of obesity. She is the author of over ninety original manuscripts, twenty-nine review articles and chapters and is the recipient of numerous awards. These include the Physician Scientist Award from the NIH, the Capps Scholarship in Diabetes from Harvard Medical School, the Banting and Best Lectureship in Diabetes at the University of Toronto and the Eli Lilly Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement, given by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Dr. Kahn has also served on the Research Grant review board, the Research Policy Committee and as chair of the Oversight Committee for all Research and Medical Meetings for the American Diabetes Association. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the ADA. In addition, she has served on the NIH Metabolism Study Section and on advisory boards to the NIH and to the American Heart Association for Diabetes, Obesity and Cardiovascular Disease. She works with CEPTYR in the area of cell and animal models of diabetes and obesity. |
