Building upon a 35-year background as a legal/business consultant and senior executive, Barry Cain leads both the Strategic Services practice and Family Business Center at Blackman Kallick, Chicago�s largest independent accounting and business advisory service firm. By establishing in-depth relationships with his clients, Barry�s focus is always on their special needs and issues. To each situation he brings unique experience and vision to assist his clients in imagining their possibilities and achieving breakthrough results. For many years, Barry was a senior partner of the Chicago law firm of Sachnoff & Weaver, where he built a significant business-related law and consulting practice and managed the firm as both a director and chairman of its Business Group. He also guided the formation of the Family Business Council at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) to help meet the unique needs of his family business clients and others. More recently, for almost 3 years, Barry served as vice president and chief administrative officer of a client company that he had taken public the prior year. There he played a key role in the company�s revenue growing from $20 million to $400 million through both internal growth and 24 acquisitions and building an administrative organization to support 65 offices and over 2,300 employees. Barry received a B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. He is a member of the Institute of Management Consultants by which he was awarded a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) certification and for which he serves as a director of its Greater Chicago Chapter. Barry is also a member of the Family Firm Institute, the Chicago Estate Planning Council, the Association for Corporate Growth and The Executive Club of Chicago. He is a frequent speaker and writer and has been profiled by Crain�s Chicago Business for his work with family businesses and the success of the UIC Family Business Council. Barry also teaches a course in family business at UIC and is a member of its Family Business Council Advisory Board. |
