Beau Phillips has spent fifteen years in public affairs, the media, government, and political campaign management. As an experienced former journalist and senior government official, he provides an insider�s view on a wide range of strategic communications challenges. Since joining CLS over six years ago, Mr. Phillips has provided public affairs and crisis communications counsel to some of the world�s most respected and demanding companies and industries. His representations have included several of the Major League Baseball players testifying before the Congressional hearings into steroid use, Oracle�s hostile takeover of PeopleSoft, his work around the Microsoft antitrust trial and his representation of Arthur Andersen during the Enron scandal. Mr. Phillips� clients have also included GE Capital, Wells Fargo, Cisco Systems, and Zenith. He also provides industry-wide counsel to leading trade associations, including the Beer Institute, the Computer & Communications Industry Association, and the Personal Watercraft Industry Association. Mr. Phillips has also represented prominent non-profit organizations, like the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperatives and Ascension Health, the nation�s largest Catholic non-profit health care provider. Mr. Phillips brings to his clients extensive political and campaign management experience. He formerly served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Frank Riggs of California, and managed Riggs� successful re-election campaign. Before that, he served as Communications Director and District Director for Congressman Bill Martini of New Jersey, who is today a federal judge. Before coming to Washington more than a decade ago, Mr. Phillips worked as a speechwriter and press secretary for the Speaker of the New Jersey State Assembly. Prior to that, he was a newspaper reporter for several years, covering state politics for his hometown paper, the Asbury Park Press, and later for the Bergen Record. He was also a contributor and stringer to the New York Times for three years. |
