I love building things. Whether it's a Lego tower, an airplane, a house or a company, I get excited about creating a concept and bringing it to life. You start with a solid foundation and add one block at time.
My background includes experience in e-commerce, software development and engineering. I've been involved in both startups and large organizations. I know that kajeet is genetically engineered to succeed.
In 1997, I co-founded and quickly became COO of SimplyWireless.com, a dominant nationwide reseller of wireless phones, service plans and accessories. I created the first Web site on a Web server in my bedroom, and helped the company grow into a $20-million-a-year business by the time I left to help create kajeet.
Before SimplyWireless.com, I worked for the U.S. Navy as an assistant program manager in the nuclear surface ship propulsion program. I was responsible for the construction, operations and maintenance of nuclear propulsion plants of several Nimitz-class aircraft carriers. I earned a B.S. and M.S. in engineering from MIT, and a master's of engineering in nuclear reactor design through the Department of Energy.
My mantra? Act young, be young. I've raced cars, driven motorcycles and flown aerobatics. As a teenager, I piloted an airplane coast to coast with a seat full of empty soda cans and bags of potato chips as passengers. Of course, nothing keeps you young like being around kids, and I have three of my own. Watching the energy and curiosity of my three kids is a continual source of inspiration for me. I look forward to introducing them to hiking, flying and sailing - and kajeet -- when they get a little older. |
