Beth S. Slomine, Ph.D. is the coordinator of inpatient neuropsychological services at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is also an assistant professor of psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Slomine is a licensed psychologist and board certified clinical neuropsychologist.
Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Slomine received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Florida in 1995. She completed an internship at the Brockton Veteran�s Administration Medical Center and Harvard University. Dr. Slomine completed a postdoctoral fellowship in geriatric psychology and neuropsychology at the Philadelphia Geriatric Center. Following her fellowship in 1996, Dr. Slomine obtained a position at the Kennedy Krieger Institute as a Pediatric Neuropsychologist providing assessment and rehabilitation services to children following recent neurological injury or illness and longstanding neurodevelopmental disabilities. Currently, Dr. Slomine coordinates the inpatient neuropsychological services at Kennedy Krieger and provides training and supervision to predoctoral interns in psychology and postdoctoral fellows in clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Slomine also participates in performance evaluation of the rehabilitation continuum services and in several research projects.
Research Summary:
Dr. Slomine�s primary research interests include better understanding the factors involved in outcome following neurological injury. Dr. Slomine has examined neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric outcomes following traumatic brain injury. She now engages in projects examining neurobiological mechanisms underlying brain injury and the acute variables that may impact outcome following injury. Additionally, Dr. Slomine is working on a project examining economical means to identify children at risk for learning or behavior problems following brain injury. She is currently working on two funded research projects as well as several unfunded projects. |
