Dr. Allen received her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 1997 under the dual sponsorship of Dr. Susan Hardin, and Dr. William Kemp in the diverse fields of molecular immunoparasitology and DNA replication. Dr. Allen performed postdoctoral research under Dr. Morton Bradbury at the Los Alamos National Laboratory where she also managed a surface plasmon resonance facility and assisted in the establishment of proteomic and mass spectrometry capabilities. In September of 2000, Dr. Allen was recruited to Genomic Solutions, Inc. in Ann Arbor, MI to set up and manage a newly created Proteomic Research Services Center. One year later, in October of 2001, she participated in the management buyout of the Services Center to form Proteomic Research Service (PRS) Inc. As co-owner of PRS, Dr. Allen managed hundreds of research projects consisting of the analysis of thousands of samples for clients from academia, government institutions, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. During her four and a half years as Vice-President of the company, PRS grew to be the commercial leader for proteomic contract services. Dr. Allen remains a majority shareholder of PRS, Inc. |
