Betsy D. Holden joined Tribune Company�s board of directors in 2002. She is a senior advisor to McKinsey & Company.
Ms. Holden served as president of global marketing and category development at Kraft Foods Inc. from January 2004 through June 2005. Before that she was co-CEO at Kraft from 2001 to 2003 and president and CEO of Kraft Foods North America from 2000 to 2003.
Ms. Holden joined General Foods Corporation (which later merged with Kraft Foods Inc.) in 1982 and held a number of management positions over the years. In 1998, she was elevated to executive vice president of Kraft Foods, responsible for operations, procurement, research and development, consumer communications and e-commerce. Prior to that, in 1995, she was named executive vice president and general manager of Kraft�s Cheese Division.
In 1993, Ms. Holden became president of Kraft�s Tombstone Pizza Division. Her roles before that included vice president/marketing for Dinners and Enhancers; vice president/new product development and strategy; and several brand management positions in various food categories.
Ms. Holden serves on the board of directors of Western Union Company and is on the Dean�s Advisory Board of Northwestern University�s Kellogg School of Management and the Board of Visitors for Duke University�s Trinity College. In Chicago, she serves as board president for the Off the Street Club and is a trustee of the Museum of Science and Industry and Ravinia Music Festival.
A Pittsburgh area native, born in 1956, Ms. Holden earned a bachelor�s degree in education from Duke University and a master�s degree in education from Northwestern University. She also holds a master�s degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management where she was valedictorian of her class and honored as Outstanding Marketing.
