Bette Weisberg brings the invaluable skills of a thirty-year veteran of CMS to her work on behalf of GHG clients. Before leaving CMS, Bette led the managed care staff in the Chicago office of CMS in administering all contracting activities involving Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), Private Fee-For-Service plans (PFFS), Cost contracting HMOs and Special Needs Plans (SNPs). She led regional implementation of all federal laws and regulations pertaining to the Medicare managed care program from the Balanced Budget Act (BBA) of 1997 through the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) of 2003. She directed regional staff in the monitoring and oversight of all managed care contractors in the six-state Chicago region; (from 1996-2004 the number of contractors ranged from 40-60 health plans). While at CMS, she received a Director�s Citation for work on the implementation of the Medicare-Approved Drug Discount Card. Bette led the team that developed and implemented a national process to resolve/control all complaints received regarding the Drug Discount Card. She also established and served as national lead of a CMS workgroup consisting of all Medicare managed care cost contractors. Additionally, she represented CMS management on a project that revised the national process for monitoring Medicare Advantage (MA) plans. Bette has worked extensively with public and private organizations to promote managed care issues, including the the National Business Coalition on Health, America�s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the Blue Cross Association, State Offices of Insurance Commissioners and a variety of provider associations. Recently, Bette has represented the Gorman Health Group giving numerous presentations around the country to a variety of audiences explaining the Medicare Part D benefit and its implications. |
