Named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Atlanta Spirit LLC on March 31, 2004, Bill Duffy has vast sports experience from his days in the National Football League and the National Hockey League.
Most recently in charge of overseeing all financial aspects of the Florida Panthers, Duffy originally came to South Florida in 1988 as the Director of Finance for the Miami Dolphins and Stadium Properties. From 1990 to 1993, he served as the Treasurer of Robbie Stadium Companies.
Duffy joined the Panthers following his tenure as the executive vice president of administration for the Buffalo Bills. During his Bills' experience, he was responsible for virtually all aspects of the team's non-player issues, including marketing, public relations, stadium operations and facilities. He joined the Bills after three seasons as the chief financial officer and vice president of business operations for the San Francisco 49ers (1996-99).
During his tenure with the 49ers, Duffy instituted new procedures and controls to ensure the club's compliance with the league's salary cap structure. He also worked for the NFL league offices for three years as the director of compliance for the NFL Management Council (1993-96). He was instrumental in the development and enforcement of the NFL's new salary cap regulations, including the monitoring of teams' compliance with those new rules.
Very active in charitable endeavors, Duffy serves on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, the Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the United States Atlanta Chapter and the Advisory Board for Florida Atlantic University�s MBA in Sports Management. Born in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey on February 28, 1956, Duffy is a certified public accountant, a graduate of Princeton University, and holds a masters degree from New York University.
