Bill Johns has been CEO of SST since October 2004. He brings a solid business and operational background to SST from over 20 years of experience in major electronics manufacturing companies. Mr. Johns has been involved with the SMT business since the early 80�s where he began in the SMT technology development group in IBM Austin. During his time at IBM, he was instrumental in developing fine pitch, miniature technologies, flip chip attach etc. He led the first major lean transitions of the entire SMT business in IBM Austin and has been a leader in driving lean across several companies. Mr. Johns spent about 9 years in the Engineering/Operations elements of the IBM Austin SMT business. He then went to Allied Signal and led turn around efforts with lean of 2 factories and later led a consolidation team. Mr. Johns joined Western Digital and ran major elements of the company including living in Asia for a while. He ran the Program Office for several years which held most of the execution elements of the business including Product Development, Materials, Supply Demand, Quality, NPI etc. His last position at Western Digital was GM of their Consumer and Enterprise business. He holds Bachelors Degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Physics. |
