Bill Johnson assumed the position of President/CEO of NorthStar Communications Group, Inc. upon completion of the merger between BE&K Telecommunications and NorthStar Telecomm Services, in December of 1998. Mr. Johnson had been appointed president of BE&K Telecommunications in 1998 and came to BE&K with a desire to build a growth-oriented, quality organization capable of capitalizing on opportunities in the fast-moving telecommunications industry. In 2001, he took on the responsibility of another BE&K subsidiary, Allstates. AllStates is a technical services company focused on engineering and IT solutions. Prior to his leadership role at BE&K Telecommunications, Mr. Johnson spent ten years working for Fluor Daniel Telecom. He has more than 17 years of senior telecommunications management experience, which includes serving as director of engineering, sales, and project management.
Mr. Johnson has worked on projects with revenues in excess of $250M, primarily involving the areas of system integration, private and commercial wireless networks, and most recently, high-capacity fiber networks. He began his career as an RF engineer working for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, designing mobile radio and microwave systems.
Mr. Johnson holds a BSEE from the University of Florida, and is an executive graduate from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. He is a member of the National Society of Corporate Directors and is a registered Professional Engineer. |
