Boone A. Knox, 69, has been a Trustee of the company since October 19, 1998, the date of Equity Residential's merger with Merry Land & Investment Company, Inc, a public multifamily property company. Mr. Knox had been a director of Merry Land Properties, Inc., a publicly traded diversified real estate company, from its formation as part of the Merry Land Merger through February 2001. Mr. Knox had been chairman of the board of Merry Land from December 1996 until the Merry Land Merger. Mr. Knox has served as chairman of the board of directors of Regions Bank, Central Georgia since January 1997, and has been a director of Cousins Properties, Incorporated, a public retail and office building company, since 1969.
