Dr. Cocca joins RatnerPrestia after three years as an Associate at a Philadelphia IP firm. His practice is focused on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the life sciences field, specializing in the areas of immunology, cell and molecular biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, and medical devices and diagnostics. In addition, Dr. Cocca counsels clients in various aspects of intellectual property management, including licensing, portfolio management, risk management, and mergers and acquisitions. Dr. Cocca became an attorney after a brief career in biomedical research. His research focused on the genetic basis for B cell autoreactivity against cellular and nuclear antigens in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and has been published in top tier scientific journals. Dr. Cocca holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Muhlenberg College (magna cum laude), a Ph.D. in Immunology from MCP Hahnemann University School of Medicine, and a J.D. degree, with honors, from The George Washington University School of Law. |
