Corporate Advisory Services
Working closely with the company and its attorneys Brian leads Huron's financial advisory services team in the Northwest Airlines bankruptcy case. Brian played an integral advisory role in the development and management of Northwest's claims resolution process and the development of its plan of reorganization. Currently he is negotiating and settling Northwest's aircraft claims.
Participated as a member of United Airlines' restructuring office. Led a variety of financial advisory and bankruptcy process projects at United Airlines including the preparation of first day motions Statement of Financial Affairs the Schedule of Assets and Liabilities avoidance actions preference actions motions and the plan of reorganization. Assisted with complex claim and executory contract matters. Prepared an expert report and provided testimony in United's bankruptcy case regarding a $1 billion damage dispute resulting from the rejection of one regional carrier agreement. Continues to supervise and manage the resolution of over 43 000 Proofs of Claims filed against the 28 filing entities and oversees the process and implementation of the plan of reorganization to its unsecured creditors.
Insurance Claims Consulting
Performed calculations of property damage costs lost profits and extra expenses on behalf of large private clients and Fortune 500 clients.
Supervised and performed extensive analyses for a court supervised arbitration relating to an insurance claim for a large private manufacturing company. Managed engagement trial team prepared reports trial exhibits and calculations and assisted with cross examination questions and rebuttal.
Supervised and performed various analyses of business interruption and property damage claims for clients in the hospitality and gaming industries submitting claims associated with Hurricanes Marilyn Bertha and Georges.
Prepared insurance claim for a Fortune 500 steel manufacturer. Analyzed production product mix manufacturing processes continuing expenses and non-continuing expenses. Evaluated the business interruption impact incurred at downstream facilities and extra expenses incurred to mitigate the lost production volume.
Litigation and Financial Consulting
Assisted in the preparation and review of calculations for an expert report relating to a Fortune 100 computer manufacturer's petition for the elimination of an IRC Section 482 adjustment. Using the Comparable Uncontrolled Price method analyzed transactions related to the import of printed circuit assemblies from our client's manufacturing subsidiary in Singapore.
Prepared various analyses relating to the U.S. Tax Court litigation of a parcel carrier concerning the accounting for excess value insurance arrangements. Assisted in the preparation of rebuttal reports and cross-examination questions for testifying experts.
