Despite the fact that his true talents lie in collapsing cardboard boxes armed only with a key, recognizing celebrity voices in cartoons, and identifying city skylines from mere silhouettes, Brian Grossman has managed to mount a successful career in educational technology. Brian discovered his love of education when he began tutoring classmates in middle and high school. Even while working on his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Science at M.I.T., Brian focused on education. While many of his friends got jobs in the high-tech industry over winter and summer breaks, Brian was a fellow at a middle school in Cambridge, MA and spent his summers as a day camp counselor. Additionally, for his Master's Thesis Brian created an innovative software tutoring application that identified and adapted to common student misconceptions when solving algebraic equations. In the years since obtaining his degrees, Brian has followed his dream of working in education. He has been the technical lead on dozens of web and CD-ROM products at Tenth Planet Explorations, Classroom Connect, WGBH, and Six Red Marbles. Additionally, Brian taught Algebra at San Mateo High School in California and teaches Advanced Interactive Software Development in Boston University's Educational Media and Technology Master's program. Brian brings more than just technical expertise to his role of Technical Director at FableVision. As an experienced educator, Brian believes that the best products are not just technically sound-to be truly effective, they must also place the learner as central in the development process. Brian's commitment to education drives him to develop products and processes that use technology in creative and strategic ways to support authentic learning experiences. |
