Brian Madocks is chief executive officer of SunGard Higher Education, a division of SunGard Data Systems. SunGard is a $4 billion privately held Fortune 500 company. Mr. Madocks is responsible for all aspects of SunGard�s higher education business, including developing, implementing, and executing the strategies and partnerships that drive SunGard Higher Education to continue delivering value to customers. SunGard Higher Education has 2,800 employees and 1,600 customers; it is the largest organization dedicated solely to delivering solutions to higher education. SunGard Higher Education was formed through the combination of three leading higher education software and services providers: SunGard BSR software and services for institutional advancement; SunGard Collegis product-neutral, on campus, and remote technology management services; and SunGard SCT administrative systems, portals, and other higher education-focused enterprise solutions. Mr. Madocks is a member of the Business-Higher Education Forum, a national non-profit membership organization of chief executives drawn from corporations and higher education. The Forum provides leadership in university-industry research collaborations and works to improve access to higher education to a diverse population. Mr. Madocks serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees at Long Island University, his alma mater. In his position on the Board of Trustees, he works to ensure the accountability of the University, fulfill its mission of Access and Excellence, and develop the institution�s strategic goals. Long Island University is the eighth-largest private university in the United States and educates more than 28,000 students each year. With over 18 years of experience in the enterprise application and technology business, Mr. Madocks held senior positions with SAP, Princeton Financial Systems, and SunGard Data Systems. He earned a finance and economics degree from Long Island University, where he is a member of the University�s C.W. Post School of Management Advisory Board and chairman of the Academic Affairs Committee. He was named Alumnus of the Year in 2005. Mr. Madocks holds an executive MBA from INSEAD. He is an executive officer of SunGard Data Systems and a member of the Business-Higher Education Forum, the Western Governors University National Advisory Board, and the National Governors Association. He is deeply involved in the higher education community as a whole, and has participated in discussions with the U.S. Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings, and with international education officials. Mr. Madocks contends in national swimming competitions and previously competed in the New York and Boston marathons. He is married, has two children, and lives in the Philadelphia area. |
