Mr. James serves as the firm�s Managing Partner and CEO. Based in the Denver office, he maintains an active practice in real estate development and finance. He has gained recognition in the legal and business communities for his work in complex public and private transactions, mixed-use developments and the hotel, resort and leisure industries. Mr. James represents lenders, developers, private equity funds and institutional investors in the development, financing, acquisition and disposition of large scale urban redevelopment projects and hotel/resort properties in various markets throughout the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean. Recent transactions in the private equity area include the development, sale and financing of Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado, California; the acquisition of a portfolio of 40 shopping centers in the Northeastern U.S.; and, the $1.8 billion acquisition of ClubCorp, the owner of over 100 country clubs and major resorts throughout the United States. In the urban redevelopment area, recent transactions include the Denver Art Museum Residences, Denver Newspaper Agency headquarters building, Wellington Webb office building and University of Colorado Hospital Authority office building. Mr. James has been practicing at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck since 1986 and has been a shareholder since 1992. He has also served as co-chair of the firm�s Real Estate department. |
