Bruce C. Ratner is chairman and CEO of Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC) the New York City subsidiary of Forest City Enterprises Inc. He is also a member of the board of directors of Forest City Enterprises.
Ratner has led FCRC to prominence as one of the foremost urban real estate developers in the U.S. He is a respected business and civic leader in New York with a distinguished career in the public and private sectors.
FCRC was New York City's most active developer during the 1990s and is currently involved in development in all five New York City boroughs.
In 1992 Crain's New York Business selected Ratner as the top New York City executive in the fields of real estate finance and insurance. Crain's New York also honored him in 2002 as one of New York's most influential business leaders. In 1994 he was awarded the New York State Governor's Arts Award. And in 2007 Ratner was named Developer of the Year by Commercial Property News.
Prior to joining Forest City Ratner held prominent positions in New York City�s political arena as well as the prestigious New York University Law School. From 1978 to 1982 Ratner served as commissioner of consumer affairs during New York City Mayor Ed Koch's Administration. Before that he spent four years working as a professor at the New York University Law School. From 1970 to 1973 he was director of the Model Cities Program and head of the Consumer Protection Division in New York City Mayor John Lindsay�s Administration.
Ratner is a board member of the Museum of Jewish Heritage A Living Memorial to the Holocaust the Metropolitan Museum of Art the Brooklyn Academy of Music the City Parks Foundation the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the Weill Cornell Medical College.
Ratner is a 1967 cum laude graduate of Harvard University and a 1970 graduate of Columbia University Law School. |
