Bruce D. Cheson, M.D., FACP, attended the University of Virginia and then Tufts University Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia Hospitals and then a clinical and research fellowship in Hematology at New England Medical Center Hospital. From 1977 to 1984, he was Assistant Professor of Medicine in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah. In 1984, he came to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP) and from 1986 to 2002 was the Head, Medicine Section, CTEP. Other positions included Senior Staff Physician in the Lymphoma Clinic, NCI. Since 2002, Dr. Cheson has been Professor of Medicine, Head of Hematology and Director of Hematology Research at Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Cheson has authored over 300 medical publications and abstracts and has contributed to over 40 texts. He is on the editorial board of numerous journals and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Oncology, and Oncology News international. He is an Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Lymphoma and Clinical Advances in Hematology and Oncology. He has also been the editor of the American College of Physician�s Medical Knowledge Assessment Program in Oncology. He has served on several committees of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and was on its Board of Directors and edited ASCO News. Dr. Cheson is on the Executive Committee of the Lymphoma Research Foundation. He is also on the Oncologic Drug Advisory Committee to the Food and Drug Administration and chairs the Lymphoma Committee of the Cancer and Leukemia Group B. Dr. Cheson�s clinical interests focus on the development and evaluation of new therapeutic approaches for hematologic malignancies. |
