Bruce Benn founded Validian Corporation and the underlying security concept that lies at the heart of its technology. Mr. Benn is responsible for making key management and strategic decisions. He is also responsible for overseeing all aspects of corporate finance and has been principally responsible for arranging the capital investment for Validian.
With a strong business background, Mr. Benn has a long history of involvement with technology and high-tech security companies. His thorough understanding of business issues around security enables him to identify a need and conceptualize a winning solution. Mr. Benn has in-depth expertise identifying trends ahead of the market, taking existing technologies that exceed current requirements, and providing early-stage, hands-on management to companies that reduces risk as new technologies are brought to market. His wealth of experience has enabled him to steer a number of technologies from initial concept through to company launch and successful establishment.
For more than two decades, Mr. Benn has provided high-level corporate and financial assistance to Fortune 500 companies, global 2000 companies and governments in more than 50 countries around the world. This wide-ranging corporate experience is complemented by his familiarity with smaller, leading-edge companies such as Validian.
As well as his duties at Validian, Mr. Benn is also the President, Director and co-founder of Capital House, a boutique investment bank that has provided and/or arranged early- and mid-stage venture-capital and practical managerial assistance to a portfolio of leading technology software companies. These companies include Philsar Semiconductor Inc., which was sold to Conexant Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CNXT) in 2000 for more than $200 million. He also co-founded DevX Energy, Inc. and served as a Director and Officer until the company was sold to Comstock Resources Inc. in 2001 for more than $120 million. From 1980 to 1993, he was with Corporation House Ltd. where he served as Vice President and Director.
An attorney, Mr. Benn holds a Masters of Law degree from the University of London, England; a Baccalaureate of Laws from the University of Ottawa, Canada; and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. |
