As corporate vice president for Corporate Development, Bruce is responsible for evaluating and driving strategic new business opportunities, including strategic alliances and mergers and acquisitions.
In his previous role as corporate vice president and CFO of MSN, Bruce Jaffe was responsible for driving the long-term profitability and strategic planning of MSN, including financial management and business development. Jaffe has also served as corporate vice president, Business Development where he was responsible for development and execution of the worldwide MSN distribution strategy. In this role, Jaffe was responsible for strategy and business-development activities and the creation of partnerships to bring the MSN services to market.
Jaffe joined Microsoft in 1995 as a member of the corporate strategy group, responsible for supplying economic analysis and strategy for various Microsoft business units. In 1999, Microsoft formed a corporate development office, and Jaffe joined that division.
In corporate development, Jaffe held various positions and in 2000 became the general manager of Microsoft corporate development, with responsibilities for managing Microsoft's investments, corporate alliances, and acquisitions in the consumer related divisions, including MSN, MSNBC, WebTV, Xbox, Microsoft Games, Microsoft's digital-media initiatives, and other consumer-related activities.
Jaffe oversaw, executed and/or managed numerous transactions and alliances while in corporate development. These activities included acquisitions and investments spanning small, medium, and large-sized organizations, as well as Microsoft's major investments in cable and telecom companies. While in corporate development, Jaffe held several board and board advisory positions on behalf of Microsoft.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Jaffe was a consultant and entrepreneur. Jaffe received a Masters in Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Jaffe currently lives in the Seattle area with his wife and two children. |
