Dr. Walser was the Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Affairs and a member of the Executive Committee of Chiron Corporation, in Emeryville, California, until its recent acquisition by majority shareholder Novartis AG. Prior to joining Chiron, Dr. Walser was an independent management consultant, working with The Rockefeller Foundation and the Boston Consulting Group on a variety of issues in biotechnology and healthcare, focused on healthcare in the developing world. Before that, Dr. Walser trained in the Emergency Medicine program at UCLA, and worked for several years with the healthcare practice of the Boston Consulting Group. Dr. Walser has served as a Fulbright Fellow studying the pharmaceutical sector in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and as an International Health Policy Fellow in Basel, Switzerland with F.Hoffmann-La Roche AG. He has published a number of peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from renal physiology and tropical medicine to international regulatory policy. Dr. Walser earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford, his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and his law degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. |
