Buell J. Carter, Jr. ("Jay") is president and chief operating officer of Textron Financial Corporation (TFC). TFC is a diversified commercial finance company with core operations in Aircraft Finance, Asset-Based Lending, Distribution Finance, Golf Finance, Resort Finance, and Structured Capital. TFC also provides financing programs for products manufactured by other Textron companies. In addition to leading TFC, Carter also serves on Textron's Transformation Leadership Team, comprised of the top executives of the corporation.
Since joining TFC in 1990, Carter has held a variety of key management positions in both marketing and operations. Before assuming his current position in January 2002, Carter served as TFC's executive vice president and chief operating officer, a position he held since 1999.
Prior to joining TFC, Carter held increasing levels of responsibility in senior P & L leadership roles within ITT Diversified Credit Corporation. Before ITT, Jay held credit and sales positions within Westinghouse Credit Corporation and Chase Manhattan Bank.
Carter received his BS in physics from the University of Louisville, where he graduated with honors. He attended the Advanced Management Program sponsored by Textron and Harvard Business School as well as the Global Leader Forum sponsored by Textron and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Carter is a member of the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee, of the Commercial Finance Association. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of The Providence Foundation. |
