W. Burks Terry is corporate vice president and general counsel for Northrop Grumman Corporation, responsible for oversight of all of the company's legal matters. He was elected to this position in 2000 and also serves on the company's corporate policy council.
Previously, Terry was vice president and deputy general counsel for the corporation and counsel for the company�s Integrated Systems sector. He joined Northrop Grumman in 1976 as contracts manager for the George A. Fuller Co., formerly a Northrop Grumman division. He has held a number of positions as legal counsel for operating units throughout the company, including the Peace Hawk program and the former Aircraft Services and Defense Systems divisions.
Terry was appointed corporate vice president and assistant general counsel of the company's Space Electronics Group in 1989. Before assuming his current duties, During 1990, he served as acting general counsel of the c Corporation for more than a year.
Terry received a bachelor's degree in economics and philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1973 and a juris doctorate from the University of Notre Dame in 1976. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association and the State Bar of California.
