As senior vice president and manager of Raymond James' Fixed Income Department, Van Sayler is responsible for the firm's municipal and taxable fixed income business. He joined Raymond James in 1986 as manager of the Public Finance Department and began serving in his current role in 1992.
Prior to joining Raymond James, Van was first vice president of public finance for William R. Hough & Company. He spent 15 years in public finance, working on transactions ranging from water and sewer facilities to health care and housing.
Van graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He earned an MBA, specializing in finance, from the University of South Florida in 1981.
He is licensed as a registered general securities representative, a general securities principal, a municipal securities principal, and a general securities financial and operations principal.
A former member of the board of directors and executive committee of the Bond Market Association, Van now serves on the executive committee of the organization's Mortgage and Asset-Backed Securities Division. He is currently a member of the Online Bond Steering Committee and chairperson of its Legal and Regulatory Subcommittee.
He is a past member of two subsidiary boards of Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, and is currently vice chairman of the board of All Children's Hospital. In addition, he was appointed by the governor of Florida to be a member of the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County, where he now serves as chairperson.
Van and his wife, Jane, reside in St. Petersburg, Florida.
