Cameron Coburn serves as Cape Fear Bank Corporation and Cape Fear Bank's Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to assuming the role of President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2000 and Chairman in July 2001, Coburn played a pivotal role in the organization and management of the Bank as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
A 1989 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Coburn began his banking career with a community bank in Charlotte, NC before moving to Wilmington with United Carolina Bank (UCB). Coburn was branch manager of UCB's Wrightsville Beach office and Banking Center Manager at UCB's Wilmington main office prior to launching the organizational effort of Cape Fear Bank in 1997.
Coburn is a third generation banker from Whiteville, NC. His family's long-standing interest in UCB (formerly Waccamaw Bank and Trust Co.) dates back to 1926, when his grandfather Jesse helped organize the Whiteville-based bank. Jesse Coburn steered the bank's growth until his death in 1950. His father, Dick Coburn, was a director of UCB for 30+years until its merger with BB&T in 1997. |
