Carol J. Stair is a partner at Cooper, White and Cooper, specializing in complex construction, real estate, product liability, and environmental litigation as well as, more recently, green building practices. Ms. Stair has represented developers, general contractors, architects, and engineers as well as specialty subcontractors in all aspects of real estate and construction litigation including delay claims, contract disputes, fraud claims, lis pendens claims, mechanic's liens, payment bond claims, defective construction, insurance coverage, professional negligence, toxic mold, personal injury and wrongful death claims. She has advised clients on land purchase disputes and worked with clients re-drafting contracts to reflect changes in indemnity laws and to address anti-solicitation matters and right-to-repair laws. Ms. Stair has also represented product manufacturers and suppliers in both class action and personal injury product liability claims. In environmental litigation, Ms. Stair has represented real estate sellers and soil-testing firms in claims related to hazardous soil remediation. Ms. Stair received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in French from the University of Santa Clara in 1985. She spent her Junior year of college in Nantes, France and is fluent in French. She received her J.D. degree from the University of Santa Clara in 1993, where she received an American Jurisprudence award in Appellate Practice. In addition to her legal work, Ms. Stair is a certified Pilates trainer. |
