Carol Black joined PacifiCare Health Systems, one of the nation's largest consumer health organizations, in 1996. In 2004, she was promoted to senior vice president of Human Resources. Based at the company's corporate headquarters in Cypress, Calif., Black oversees all human resource functions for the company's approximately 9,100 employees nationwide.
Black serves on the Education Advisory Council for the Academy for Health Care Management, a specialty group of America's Health Insurance Plans, and the Certification Advisory Councils for the University of California, Irvine, in Human Resources Management, Executive Development, Management Development and Organizational Change and Development. She was Chairman of the Board of Directors for Vital Link, a nonprofit organization supporting the successful transition of students into business. She is a member of the Orange County Organization Development Network, American Society for Training and Development, Human Resource Strategy Forum and Center for Effective Organizations.
Before joining PacifiCare, Black held human resources positions in diverse industries including publishing, education, health care delivery and retail. She received a bachelor's degree from California State University at Northridge and a master's degree in human resources and organization development from the University of San Francisco. A native of California, she lives in Huntington Beach with her husband. |
