Carolyn J. Williams is the Director of the Human Services Department for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), a labor union of approximately 725,000 members, headquartered in Washington, D.C. The IBEW represents workers in the utility, construction, manufacturing, telecommunications, broadcast and railroad industries.
Sister Williams is responsible for the development and implementation of membership and community outreach programs. Her duties include human and civil rights, retiree clubs, women�s affairs, charitable fundraising, work and family programs, community services and youth activities. She also manages the IBEW Union Privilege benefits programs.
She is a national Vice President of the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW), serves as a national Executive Board member for the Alliance for Retired Americans, board member of Tradeswomen Now and Tomorrow (TNT) and committee member of the Building and Construction Trades Department (BCTD) Committee of Women in the Trades.
After completing college, she entered the inside apprenticeship program in Atlanta, Georgia and understands the influence of knowledge and encouragement in transporting us from a life of apprehension and passivity to one of confidence and action.
A long-time advocate of community service, Bill serves on the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Hall and the National Advisory Board of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. He is a member of the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) and of the G100 CEO Forum. Bill serves on the boards of the Japan Society and the U.S. - Japan Business Council. In addition, he is a member of the Transatlantic Business Dialogue (TABD), and serves as Chairman for the United States Council for International Business (USCIB) and as an International Councillor for the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS). He also serves as a trustee to St. Francis College and to the Catholic University of America. |
